Goodbye Rollerskis, Hello Frozen Thunder!!

Canmore is such an amazing place to live. We have the Rocky Mountains, the friendly Olympians, and of course (during October and November at least) Frozen Thunder!! Frozen Thunder is a 2km ski loop that the Canmore Nordic centre saves under saw dust over the summer and lays out for skiing in the fall. It gives athletes like me a chance to get on snow earlier than most people in Canada and also to meet some other amazing and inspiring athletes that are some of my biggest heroes!

A random beautiful sunrise i felt was necessary to put in

This past weekend i also had an Alberta Ski Team camp, where we joined together with the Ontario Ski Team, the BC Ski Team, and the National Talent Squad to make one big super camp! It was really fun hanging out and training with some girls that i normally only see on the start line, and it was also good to hear some technique feedback from some different coaches as well. On Saturday we did a group scavenger hunt around Canmore which was super fun too!! Unfortunately i was in charge of taking the pictures for our team so i'm not in too many of them.

My team (L-R): Alex, Erika, Thomas, and Max

Cant wait to see these guys again at ski races!!

During this camp was also the annual Frozen Thunder sprints! We raced a 1.6km loop (longest i've ever sprinted) on frozen thunder. There was also a distance race today (that i skipped school to watch!) where the men did 6 laps of frozen thunder (15km) and the women did 4 laps (10km). Heres some pictures from the sprints (photos by my dad - he had to leave early so these are only from the qualifier)..
